Wedding Scrapbooks Offer More Detail, Love Than Albums

The creation of a wedding scrapbook to memorialize that special day is a great decision. Unlike a typical photo album, a scrapbook can pull in a lot of different elements to give the book a strong advantage over regular photos for allowing people to relive the day, moment by moment.

Getting started creating your own wedding scrapbook is a fairly simple undertaking, but it should be one that's guided by an attention to detail. Here are some ideas:
* Gather your favorite photos from the day. If you choose, you can start the book during your dating time and even include pictures from your shower, rehearsal and honeymoon. Pick the photos that will best tell the story of each individual period, a close up of the ring for the engagement, for example; the kiss for the ceremony's finale page.
* Pick out other features to include that help tell the story better. A menu from the restaurant where he proposed, the engagement announcement, a copy of the marriage certificate and so on.
* Be sure to include journal entries. Write these clearly so you can reminisce later on and others can clearly understand why a napkin from a restaurant is so special. Describe your feelings on the big day - nervous, delighted, terrified, ecstatic.
* Organize the pages in a decent chronological order. The cover page can be of almost any period, but label each individual section with good headlines: Courting, Popping the Question, Getting Ready, We do ..., Getting Away From It All and so on.
* Use good acid-free paper for the pages. Since a wedding album is an instant heirloom, you'll want to protect your pictures. Choose materials for the inside and outside that will not only be beautiful, but also durable. Also take care to preserve other items such as written pieces, clippings and more.
* Use embellishments that fit the theme and choose paper appearance accordingly as well.

Should the finished wedding scrapbook be for a friend or loved one, try to follow the above advice, but leave some room for the bride and groom to write in their own memories. Let them take your work and make it their own treasury of memories. A single photo album is great for holding pictures, but a scrapbook can tell the story of the event years down the road in a way photos alone cannot match. With a combination of pictures, headlines, journal entries and other elements, the book offers a more holistic picture of the big day and every special one leading up to it.
